Superb edition, nice and powerful sound, no surface noise at all and flat discs.
what is not mentioned is the on about 5 trax billy davenport is the drummer. also the song love song is a early version of east west. its really comin home baby/ it lacks the raga part later to be in east west. .these mixes are NEW not the ones by dan rothchild on the cd. a more defined period mix with out the loud snare drum as before. the BEST rsd in quite a while. pressed in holland. NICE 10 stars.
Hands down the best-sounding release of RSD 2022 Drop #2 in my opinion! This pressing is absolutely perfect in every way: dead flat vinyl, whisper quiet, and very clean in poly sleeves. The dynamics on this release are stunning: you can hear every scorching Bloomfield solo in perfect clarity with amazing separation and an intimate "studio" soundstage. Mastered from the original analogue tapes, I cannot imagine this release ever sounding better.
Sides 4-6 are unbelievably good! The unreleased tracks are a masterclass in Chicago's electric blues and it's great to have all these extras on perfect vinyl. This release is an absolute must-own for blues fans—get one before they're long gone!
Got this on RSD June 18, 2022. Had just finished listening to BBB's second album called "East, West". Wanted to get my hands on their first album and saw this in the record store. Read reviews here and decided to shell out the cash. Wow! What a great 3 LP set this is. The sound is full and pristine. Vinyl is flat, centered, quiet. It's mixed and mastered to near perfection for analog tapes nearly 57+ years old. Great packaging. Very pleased with this Mid-Sixties breakthrough album. Musician lineup is fantastic. Simply a must-have for Paul Butterfield enthusiasts. Get this, you won't regret it.
what a find. sides 4 ,5 and 6 are AMAZING. still there are about 5 missing tracks not issued. the full length trax are CRAZY. why did it take soooo long it get this out.
According to Sister Ray's website this release was limited to 500 copies (although that figure is probably the quantity allocated to the UK).
5000 pressings. Can't wait to hear it. Anyone listen yet?
